I play an 'oh my gawd' banjo......well a banjitar actually - Im too lazy to learn yet another instrument....

there are some amazing banjo players about as you say....

 On the other hand I've yet to hear a player of single melody line type (usually 4 string) banjo playing that I would want to listen to a second time.

I could listen to Barney Mckenna all day.
