I always use Bb and Eb, the two accidentals on the pull.

And very effective these were for obtaining quiet for the MC of a guitar and ukelele session. Thank you.

Oh, THAT'S why! All is plain now. I shall touch bass with this now.  >:E >:E

My other melodeon's a fiddle, but one of my Hohners has six strings! I also play a very red Hawkins Bazaar in C and a generic Klingenthaler spoon bass in F.!! My other pets (played) are gobirons - Hohner Marine Band in C, Hohner Tremolo in D and a Chinese Thingy Tremolo in G.

Alison,

One question that I don't think anyone asked - why do you want to make the sound of a siren.

Wikipedia:
In Greek mythology, the Sirens were three dangerous bird-women, portrayed as seductresses who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island.

Is there something you haven't told us....do you live near the coast?

That would only work if you were in France surely..... to my ear anyway!
Perhaps it should be obligatory equipment when trying to get through French holiday traffic jams along with warrning triangle and yellow reflecting melnet t-shirt.  And les flics not only could NOT work out where it was coming from but if they did, they could not do you for having a siren illegally as you would have switched to playing

It did the job in Surrey.

I agree it sounds French. Brings to mind the corner of the square in Avignon, the scooters without number-plates and the assorted police and fire/rescue vans. Not to mention sitting down for a meal and noticing the local plain-clothes guys and girls with their ironmongery almost concealed.

Very evocative things, melodeons.
