Fab tune. It's "The Man In The Moon" originally recorded from the playing of Scan Tester (anglo concertina) by Mervyn Plunkett in Cinder Hill, Sussex, 1957.
These details gleaned from Barry Callaghan's excellent book "Hardcore English" (published byEFDSS 2007)

Nice playing, Pip.

Yes, the waltz was clearly instrumental in getting me to buy the box! I try terribly hard to disassociate the skilled playing (or otherwise) in these demo videos, but it's hard. I'm going 'now, think objectively about the sound of each note and the way the sound all fits together' and my hind-brain is going 'that just sounds *great*'.

You need Lester's handy guide to ABC which you can find at http://info.melodeon.net/info/abc

Well it's easier to understand than Bob doubles, not to mention Cambridge major!  :o My other half is tower captain at the village church and I, for my sins, am steeple keeper. I don't understand bellringing as such; less still the desire to make anything tuneful from swinging a job lot of old metal around in an unpredictable arc. I do however know how to oil a plain bearing, something that is apparently is beyond the ken of the average commuter.  ::)

ABC is an entirely different thing. A simple, text based language that's easily learned and once the basics are mastered you will be able to print out beautiful scores with little effort. So make my day and admit that with all the might of the internet at your disposal you still can't figure out how to make letters into tadpoles...

Alison's timely intervention should give you a clue ...

It was man in the moon. Being a sussex lad a know quite a few of scan testers tunes. I thought I'd put the name of the tune on there. Maybe not- I'll go and edit it!
