swap reed blocks
« on: March 25, 2011, 11:44:05 PM »

Hello all.

I have a 4 voice piano accordion, musette tuned. The high reeds are +30 and the low reeds -20 Clarinet and Basson are concert pitch.
Now I will try to explain this clearly, I have had the grill off and moving the coupler slide manually. I have found that I get a much nicer tone by selecting the -20 reeds with Bandon which is called Horn on some couples that I have seen, and also using it along with clarinet, give an effect called Celeste.

Is it possible to swap the reed block tuned at -20 with the reed bock tuned at +30, and vice versa.

thanks

Unlikely, the reedblocks usually stand at different angles to get sufficient spacing between the reed banks,  swapping reedblocks will disturb this spacing

Hi Theo

Thanks for the reply, I have another option that I know will work but thought i would try and eliminate the easiest one first.
