Here's my shot at this month's TOTM - it sounded to me rather like it would make a decent Parisian (ish) waltz, so here we are, Valse Roulante!

Mixcraft+Windows Movie Maker in. Mixcraft is, I have to say, just fantastic. I'm trying an evaluation copy after hearing what Almo's done with it, and I'm *very* impressed; I will almost certainly buy it. Thanks for the heads up Almo! Windows Movie Maker; less impressed - I might use something else for that next month.

Enjoy,

Clive

Clive - I just read your comments on Mixcraft 5 - it is really good, as you say. Much easier that CuBase and some nice sounds in there that can be used.
You can record video with a webcam - and drop the file into Mixcraft to edit the sound - then save it as a Window Media File...

The video editor I use is Corel Video Studio Pro4 - version five is out now - and that's easy to use too...

Glad you found it useful Clive..

My version of La Roulante - straight to webcam and using a separate mic. Tone tweaked slightly and reverb added..

Brilliant as usual, like the bass.

I haven't posted a tune of the month for a while so here is my shot at La Roulante/LNB polka:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkLf1yy7n5U

It's a great tune and the first time I have come across it.  I have really enjoyed listening to all the versions so far posted and there is obviously so much you can do with it.  I am afraid that mine is a very simple version (unfortunately with a little falter!!!)  :-[

It is played on my new (second hand) Castagnari Tommy D/G melodeon.  I played it straight to webcam which, sadly, does seem to be slightly fuzzy.

Nice recording. It really sounds like a polka with those strong 2nd beats.

Here's another go. Pretty similar to the 5/4 version, but this time in polka-ish tempo and with visuals (sorry about the 8mm webcam).

Thanks! Actually I had the wrong white balance, so it's a bit of a cover-up.  ;)

Hi all,

I've not been around for  a while, so here's a belated go at La Roulante. Better video quality than usual, though do excuse the bouncy leg and a couple of bum notes and rhythms. Some fantastic versions precede my efforts, I've enjoyed them all, so I hope this fairly straight version sits well...

Looking forward to the next one,

Shift

Nicely played Susi!
Any reason why you play in the lower octave or just personal taste?

Hmm... I started playing it in the lower octave and when I played it in the higher octave, there was some weird finger twist to reach one of the tones so I always made mistakes there....  ;) From the beginning I planned to record it playing it twice, once in the lower and once in the higher octave but I just made too many errors...

Thanks btw!

I've always thought a G/C Lilly would sound good, but I'd never heard one before; my suspicions were correct! Another to add to the list. :P Great playing too.
