ukebert, can I use the excuse that I'm living in Vienna and it took me a while to even get as far as remembering that "contraction" might suffice?! ;-)

Not to add much, but no names yet. Dedicated, as EdJ wrote, wonderfully kindly, to me and Ella :-)

Eyup! Not a lurker then... ;D

Oh, I've been lurking a good while, Ed  ;)
Some things, however, need to be answered!

I should re-learn these tunes, it's been a while since I played them properly.

OOh I have had a go at these tunes  :||: They are not easy to get right and when I sit in front of a mic I start to get scared when I am getting near the end. As a result I usually make a mistake at that point  ;)
I daren't show my face when I am playing them yet  :D
You have to admire that man Stephan for making them sound so lively.
Great tunes though.

Nicely done.  Do you play the first one entirely on the C row?

Hi and thanks Waltzman.
I play an 'A', a 'C' and an 'E' on the G row with my little finger to keep the chords in order.
You need to play those three notes on a pull.

Just in case people want the dots, I've transcribed them. Someone mentioned that there were dots floating around, but I haven't transcribed anything in a while :P Obviously because Stephan is a decent player he doesn't play the tune the same on any repetition, and his chords do vary, but this is the basic idea.

X:1
T:SKINT Scottishe 1
C: Stephan Steiner
K:C
M:4/4
"C"E2 zG c2BG | "Dm"F2 zG cBcd | "Am"zedc A2AG | "F"ABce "G"dBGF |
"C"E2 EG BcBG | "Dm"F2 zG cBcd | "Am"zedc "F"ABce |1 "G"dcAB "C"c2 z2 :|2 "G"dcAB "C"cdef ||
"C"g2 ge cBAG | "Dm"F2 fd BAGF | "Em"EGcG "F"FGcd | "C"eGeG "G"d2 ef |
"C"g2 ge cBAG | "Dm"F2 fd BAGF | "Em"EGcG "F"F2 f e- |1 "G"edcB "C"cdef :|2 "G"edcB "C"c2 z2||

Second time bar of the B section should be |2 "G"edcB "C"cAGF|| if going back up to the top and |2 "G"edcB "C"c2 B2|| if going onto the next tune...

Blimey, I have to say that these tunes are a striking example of why a G/C is a different beastie to a D/G. The equivalent key for these tunes is G and E minor. If you play them down the octave then you don't have the low C, if you play them up then your ears start to hurt... you can put them into D and B minor and that works fine except that you then don't have the F# bass, which mucks up the chords in the second tune. I've learned them on the squeaky end, but I can't imagine ever playing them there :P The fingering is lovely mind, it's just a little high. My right ear is tingling a bit.

The links to the abc files by the composer are right below the youtube video (you might need to click 'show more').

Heh, that was a waste of time then :P Never mind, only took 15 minutes or so. My versions seem pretty close to his as well, which is good (:)

His site seems to be inaccessible now, so I was about to download yours, only to find I have them here already  :Ph
I must have grabbed them when this thread started, and then forgotten about them
