Yes, I suppose it was unfair of me to withold that information.

The thing is ... The turtle is the real time sink. Very demanding turtle. And secretly resents the melodeon.

They burrow into the bellows to make their nests. Well known fact. And they make excellent charangos, too....

gypsylad: Isn't it funny?
You'd think the sheer noise output ( whether good or bad ) would keep him away, a bit like my cat as I mentioned earlier, but it seems to fascinate.
Still, it means you'll get him started young at this rate!
( Any ideas for a cat sized melodeon? )  ;)

but thank you for the thought.
You've also answered my question, as I was wondering where you were too!

I find myself playing my little one-row Hohner whenever the mood strikes. It's extremely portable, so I can take it outside to play in the yard.

My 120-bass musette piano accordion takes more effort due to its size and weight.

Dave, I often go and sit outside if I can, rather than stare at the aquarium when trying to play tunes.
Trouble is, weather's so variable. A couple of months ago I'd have to brush off a foot of snow, and this last fortnight, it's been so hot down here I genuinely worry about putting a box with reeds set in wax into the sun.....
But the cool of the evening's been nice!

I happily played for morris yesterday in Aylesbury with a recorded temp of 82F in the shade and I was stood in the sun. The only time I have had wax problems was with the cold so I would not worry about it.

Thanks Lester. As I typed that comment, I thought it's a question worth asking..... but now I've already got an answer!
Bet dancing and playing in those temp's was hard work.
We've got a good weekend of dance lined up next weekend. Inevitably you want 'good' weather, but not especially baking hot!

Don't leave it exposed to sunlight in a car though - that can get really hot and will melt the wax.
