New CD - Yann-Fanch Perroches
« on: July 11, 2008, 06:59:44 PM »

Howdy y'all,

Yann-Fanch Perroches has a new CD out.  I just got my copy of it yesterday in the mail.  Go check it out at http://www.perroches.com or http://www.perroches.com/aframe.htm.   He also has a Myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/yannfanchperroches

I have heard lots of the tunes, but plan to listen tonight to the whole CD in its entirety in some altered state in a dark room with my earbuds.  That's the best way to listen to a new accordion CD!

Kind regards,
Kay Hickman

Thanks for letting us know of this CD, Kay. The sound samples on Yann-Franch's MySpace page are lovely. I especially like 'Waltz for Kay' :)
I might well just have to buy the CD....

I listened last night.....and I was blown away.  I love the tune he wrote for me obviously, but that's not why I was blown away.  It's his basses.  When I listen with earbuds in, it's so clear and amazing.  How can anyone play basses like that?  I just really cannot understand.  The level of musicianship is over the top with Yann-Fanch, and I suppose that is why I loved his music to begin with, when I first heard it about 10 years ago.  I found a CD "an droug hirnez" at the record store in Austin when I was visiting and took it home to have a listen.  That CD has always been a favorite, but as time passes, I see even more in his music.  I love basses played well, and I always figure if I can play 1/10th as well as some of those fantastic players out there, then I've accomplished what I set out to do in the beginning.  I think this CD on a scale of 1 to 10 is an 11, as Nigel said in Spinal Tap.
