Been hunting round my record etc collection. The first recorded appearance of Uncle B's as such that I can find is the Albion Dance Band's 'Prospect before Us' LP, recorded 1976 and released 1977. The opening track is a coupling of Uncle B's with Jenny Lind, for which the sleeve notes offer an explanation that Tams paired them as a tribute to anglo players, respectively Bernard O'Sullivan of County Clare and Scan Tester of Sussex. No mention is made of the change of title of the first tune, though maybe the clue is in the band's name.
