A slightly different challenge this month; let's try doing duets/whatevers playing with other people, or indeed with ourselves if you've got a recording setup capable of doing multitracking!

This could go in *so* many interesting directions...

Cheers,

Clive

PS: One request though - can people clearly state the names of tunes and what box they are playing; this helps Lester catalog the 'All the performances' pages more easily.

Well, in a similar "one I prepared earlier" category, I can offer:
Instrumentals with Mary Humphreys on English Concertina:
The Valiant and The Allexander
Crue D'Amour a French Waltz by Philippe Prieur
Meillionen - a Welsh set dance tune
Two Welsh Minuets
Pool Quadrill + Recruiting Officer
Harliquin Air + Tom Fowler's Hornpipe

Songs with Mary singing:
If I was a Blackbird - 1 row in C
The Cusckoo and the Nightingale - Saltarelle
Green Grows the Laurel - 1 row in C

For fun this month though, I might multitrack myself on several melodeons...

And yes there were some dancers there too.

Hope DTN doesn't mind. (think he's having a 'Random' moment somewhere.)
Derek rather cleverly overdubbed on a tune I'd written a couple of years ago. So here's one Derek prepared earlier.

'The Fighting Temeraire'  ( I played on Saltarelle Nuage dg.)

p.s. It has a strange threeA oneB start as sometimes there is a poem to be read over the start that fits better like that.

Nice one, Lester - btw, it says on onmvoice that you're playing a Hohner pressed wood melodeon.

This is a bit off topic because I'm not playing melodeon on it (Anglo concertina instead), but I'm all excited because I've just discovered the video is on YouTube now. It is without doubt and by a long way the strangest musical collaboration I've ever been involved with, though I gather this kind of thing happens all the time.

Neela Thamara Trailer - trailer for a Tamil film, with "Celtic-style" backing including fidldle, concertina and whistle
How it all happened from the musical director's point of view.

I first appear about 53 seconds in and from time to time thereafter. Also the bit in 6/8 time at 2:52 features the fiddle most prominently, but it's my tune!

I should point out, in case it isn't obvious, that I've never met any of the other participants in this recording. It was put together in India (Goa, I believe). Chinmaya emailed me a chord chart and an MP3 of a guide mix with synthesiser chords, light percussion and a scratch vocal, and instructions to play all the way though, so he could cut and edit the mix. I wrote out the music, practised and tried out a few things, loaded it on to a Yamaha 8 track HD recorder, put on some headphones and recorded a few takes until I was happy with it, and emailed back a very large .WAV file. It was all done in the space of a week.

Sorry, no melodeons.  :|bl

I didn't want to post a link to something I'd done earlier - so I wrote a tune this morning, recorded it and did a video over about four hours (I must get out more....)

So here it is on YouTube - "What's The Rush"...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWYA9fqc43I

High praise indeed coming from you Anahata, thanks so much.

I might be playing 'swing melodeon'....I'm certain it's not a polka... ;)

You could step - hop to it like a hornpipe, or possibly dance a Schottische.
I could nick it for a molly tune too. Yes, it does swing and it's not a polka.

I can see the hornpipe connection..but let's not discuss hornpipes.... ::)

If you nick it - be sure to mention my name..

My Dad and I don't get to play together that often, so it was especially nice to be able to record this waltz with him. It's "La Marianne," which I know Mel.Net has had more than it's fair share of.  Still, love the tune, and it was a good time.  I remember me and Dad played it together for the first time a few years ago at a cousin's wedding, but this sort of thing really isn't his cuppa -- he's more of a singer/songwriter guy.

http://accordeonaire.blogspot.com/2011/06/la-marianne-with-my-dad.html

EDIT:  I'm playing a Castagnari Nik, G/C.

That's just lovely all around, Gary, and very touching.  It is a gift to be able to play music with the people we love. I am hoping to make a recording with my daughter for this month's theme. Thank you for posting that sweet waltz. Suzanne
