Here's a song what I once wrote and on which I collaborated with myself playing a couple of guitar tracks, singing, playing melodeon and a bit of percussion. I recorded it a couple of years ago on a Boss multitrack digital recorder. The melodeon's my Saltarelle Pastourelle III and the guitar is a K.Yairi which is currently undergoing some cosmetic work following a foolish incident involving me and a pickguard I didn't like the look of! Thought I'd put this link up so I've got something at least on ThOTM. I'm also hoping to persuade Hughie Taylor of this parish to record a duet with me of some toons some time soon.

Hope DTN doesn't mind. (think he's having a 'Random' moment somewhere.)
Derek rather cleverly overdubbed on a tune I'd written a couple of years ago. So here's one Derek prepared earlier.

'The Fighting Temeraire'  ( I played on Saltarelle Nuage dg.)

cheers

Collaboration

With the kind permission of Sandy, I have added some guitar to the beautiful haunting tune which she wrote.
I daren't touch the excellent melodeon playing on there from Sandy and Derek....

Thanks so much Sandy

Alan

Thanks for DTN too for allowing me to mess with the tune - cheers Derek

I think the ytbe blurb almost amounts to an essay unintended. Nuff said.

If you get bored make a cup of tea (or switch off), it may have benefited from further pruning.

Here's Hugh Taylor and me playing together for this month's theme. At least some of the variations and harmonies are deliberate! We've been trying to get these two tunes down for a while now - I find the Red Lion particularly tricky, as might be obvious. I think it's Saul Rose who plays his versioin of the Rowling Hornpipe on Waterson Carthy's 'Broken Ground' which is more or less the version of the Oldham Rowling which we're playing here. Hugh's the one looking cool and I'm the fidget britches! Hugh's playing his Castignari Tommy and I'm on my Saltarelle L'Elfique. I've got my bass reed sounding in the RH and Hugh's got his stopped out.

You're not the only one!

Looking forward to hearing this (I can't now as I'm at work...)

Me and Alison Frosdick recorded at Sharps back in April.

http://www.onmvoice.com/play.php?a=56144

We've got a 30 minute spot at The Milkmaid in Bury St Edmunds tomorrow night, but then we're at a bit of a loose end.. anybody know of any sessions or singarounds in the Stowmarket area on Saturday night?

Lester it's a Black Pearl II (Arr!) and the song's called Rolling In The Dew.

Here's my first contribution for this month: it´s the Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen played in D. I pulled this song from the Scottish theme a little while back, and since I´m heading to Glasgow in about three months, it just seemed fitting...

http://soundcloud.com/mrdibbs/northern-lights-of-old

It is played on the Piano Accordion (tell me if that is no good here!!) as I´m not yet comfortable enough on the box to be playing with anyone else, and the Spanish guitar with a friend we can call Moix, who is still learning the beauty of what an accordion / melodoen is...

I thought it was an interesting combo and I think that his take on the music was pretty cool. Enjoy!! (or not!!)

Well, well, see you there then Jack! (I'm with the Sheri Kershaw Band, doing a 20 min spot.)  I don't know the Bury st Eds area very well, but if you're on you way back to London via Dunmow on the Sunday, by all means drop in at the Chequers PH Free Music Session (8-11).  You will be very welcome, and I would love to hear some more like that recording, it was lovely.

There's a folk weekend going on at the Steamboat Tavern in Ipswich, 40 minutes down the A14 from Bury.
Not much else in the way of sessions, according to the Mardles listings.

It has to be said that I'm enjoying these contributions far more than I expected. Some fantastic tunes and fantastic playing.

My first YouTube video and first post to ThOTM.

My friend Nick on fiddle and myself on Castagnari Tommy (original reeds, dry tuning), playing Princess Royal:

Sorry you can only see the bass end of the melodeon, but it was quite cramped in the pub and this was the only angle my wife could sensibly video us from.

Cheers Neil - The video is on You Tube now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oX5D2Pplor0

The video was done with Windows Movie Maker - I don't use it much but the pictures of Whitby were handled well by WMM.
