Good question, there does not seem to be a way to remove attachments so I would select all the text in the posting and copy it then throw the post away , start again and paste the text in the new post

After attaching a file and posting it:

While viewing the post click "Modify"
  • then click the blue "+ Additional options"  as you did when adding the file
  • You should see a list of attached files above the box to browse for new files
  • then click on the little box to remove the tick next to your file name
  • Save

After attaching a file and posting it:

Problem was I had attached an xls file which made my post fail, so I was caught in a loop.

However, I have now done as Lester suggested, which has worked - many thanks (not least for the speed of response).

Bit lumpy for otherwise pretty good forum software?

Glad you got it sorted.  The human side of this forum is far superior to the technical!

there does not seem to be a way to remove attachments

Lester can you see the list of attachments when you select addition options?
