Try doing C-B-B-G, works better I think

Here's my feeble attempt at this tune, still working to coordinate left and right hands.

I played it OK in the bath but the vid camera kept steaming up  ;D  So here's the dry version:

I really got this box for playing Irish sessions so it feels a bit strange playing it with lots of bass acc. I thought I'd give it my best shot.

Very nice version, and the box sounds sweet too.

Here's my crack at the tune. I tried to start with a run crossing the rows, but it's not very fluent so I reverted to up and down type... I'm trying to learn though! Also, every time I record these days it seems to be slightly distorted - may try using a proper mic next time! Loving the versions so far this month, it's a belting tune...

Cheers

I play it without crossing rows - you get more punch and rhythm that way....

I'm away from all melodeons (shudder) for the next 10 days or so; I'm sure someone will demonstrate it before I return to melodeon land, but if not it'll appear in my video in some form to be sure. There's nothing particularly clever about it; just a C-B-A-G run on the bass at the end of bar 4 (I think, I'm working *completely* from memory) and everywhere else that particular sequence appears throughout the tune, which lets face it, is quite often.

Cheers,

Clive

Thanks very much, Clive.  I have been having a go at this but it doesn't sound quite right!  ???

I would be really grateful if someone could demo it.

Thanks in anticipation
Pam

Ah. A quick sit in front of a melodeon, and it's C-B-B-A, with G as the start of the next bar. I'll get round to recording something in the next few days or so now I'm back from my hols.

Cheers,

Clive

Here's my posting of this month's tune. Look out for a guest appearance by Mollthecoll :P. Played on my Saltarelle L'Elfique, newly and nicely fixed by Theo just today. Played in a slightly brisk hornpipe stylee. ...

I do like this one. Particularly with the middle break. Unbidden, a question drifted across my mind. At what stage does variation become jazz?

Here's my first go. Jazzed up a bit; hope it doesn't upset the purists.

Here's my month's effort:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVUUMM9NPOk

The sound quality is fine, but deary me, I don't know what my webcam was up to - the picture quality is just shocking! But hey, it's played on a Hohner Pokerwork D/G, and you all know what that looks like, yes?

[[[ If you listen closely, you might hear that C-B-B-A bass run I mentioned earlier in the thread. ]]]

Cheers,

Clive

Thanks for your encouragement Clive: I must look into better recording equipment though. Have an incentive now.

Exactly the style it should be played, imho.  (:)

In one band I played in, we used to segue into "I Shot The Sheriff"..........
