For my tab of this please download the attached PDF (print out in colour!!).
Let me know what you think of the way I've done this.
Great job, Thank You! There must be some problem with the finger numbers: you cannot use both 1 and 5 when using only four fingers.
I'd definitely prefer, however, the "standard" format.
I made this (see the attached picture) with ABCEdit, which automatically calculated the button numbers for DG melodeon.
Here is the ABC source:

X:24
%In-DG_DGtrekzak
%%vocalfont    Times-Bold 12.0
%%staffsep     3.0cm
T:Brighton Camp - DG (Arranged by Daddy Long Les August 2011)

"R2" is an instruction to ABCEdit to display button numbers only for the 2nd row when the same note is available on both rows in the same bellows direction. "P" is to force push, "T" for pull bellows directions. !1! are for finger numbers. "D2" is from the original notation of Daddy Long Les.

Hi Miklos

When I open this in Barfly on my Mac and go to split screen mode to view the notation etc. it says "illegal symbol: 5 in stave 1"  and just shows the title and an empty stave.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The !5! puts a small 5 for fingering above the note, but it's an abcm2ps extension to standard abc. Probably barfly isn't based on abcm2ps and doesn't support fingering notation.

Hi Simon

Thanks for the explanation.
Can you suggest some Mac software that does support this please?

Thanks

I don't have a mac, but abcm2ps should run on all operating systems.

Anyway, here's yet another girl I left behind me. BTW.. why does youtube give "funny" as a tag suggestion?   :-\
Played on a Selli C/F.

Very true! How ABCEdit can make abcm2ps to display the button numbers? As far as I understand it is a feature of ABCEdit and not of abcm2ps.

We were driving through western Massachussetts last week and stopped off by the Button Box for a brief visit. While we were there my wife, St. Carol (thanks, Lester...that works just dandy!!) insisted that I take home a nice little 10-year-old Bouebe that was sitting on the shelf looking all forlorn. So here it is in its new Michigan home, my first outing on one of those "squeaky" boxes in D/G:

Yet another Brighton Camp...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZPBwPDtNLc

I wasn't going going to bother recording this, but I've put quite a lot of work into this girl's left behind so to speak, so I thought I would have a go for posterity.  I've now been playing for a whole month, so I'll be able to look back and laugh one day!!!!

Apologies if this is too offensive on the ears! :|bl

I thought it was amazingly good for someone who's only been playing a month. Well done - from a fellow struggler!!

Hey, Les, you are definitely not a struggler. AFAIK, you are an established musician, and the melodeon just falls in your hands so amazingly naturally.

Amazing progress for only one month of box playing, well done! You are a musician who plays something else to a decent standard though aren't you?

Thank you for the encouragement!

Well done - from a fellow struggler!!
Les, I would hardly call you a struggler.  I thought your version was spot on.  Quite jealous of the left hand!

I've tinkered with classical and fingerstyle guitar.  I used to play a lot, but haven't for some time. I've found you can annoy the kids so much more with a melodeon...
