That was a close run poll this month!

Our winner this time is Oh Joe the Boat is Going Over - a classic polka from East Anglia (in England); and here is Gavin Atkin playing a nice clean version in D: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BoL07qRXGI

I don't have ABC to hand, but hopefully some kind soul will be along in a bit with some? Ah, found some. Courtesy of Gavin, at the Frittenden site http://frittendenfestival.com/free-traditional-music-classes-at-the-gun-and-spitroast-horsmonden/, we have this:

http://frittendenfestival.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Oh-Joe-the-Boat-is-Going-Over.txt

... and printed music here:

http://frittendenfestival.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Gun-and-Spitroast-classes-11th-May-2011-Oh-Joe-the-Boat-is-Going-Over-and-Walter-Bulwers-Polkas-2-and-11.pdf

Now that the festival season's over, let's see if we can get a good number of recordings again this month, so dust off that webcam and play us your version of this wonderful tune!

Cheers,

Clive

Not quite the East Anglian standard but an attempt at the version used for the Minehead Hobbyhorse (with apologies to any Melnetters with an involvement in that tradition, please take this as a homage, living at the other end of the country I have never made it down but it is on my list of "things to do when I retire"  :||: :|glug :Ph).

That doesn't work. I think what you had there was a temporary file for downloading just after you'd created it.

Still squeezing after all these years.
Mostly on hohners , with a couple of Dinos and a smattering of anglos - and now a Jeffries duet

Thankyou   (:) I LOVE my Binci, but I love all my other boxes as well!  I reckon the 4 stop is best for Old Joe, trad style.

Mary Humphreys' maiden voyage on melodeon and YouTube.

Bill (folkbluesnbeyond) has correctly pointed out that this is not strictly true, citing this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGmTMQzp-fw
Which was Mary's first time with a 1-row in front of an audience.

However, this time it's a solo performance...

You love restored old Hohners, don't you?

Hi Miklos

Hohners seem to suit my playing and the circumstances in which I play. I have a couple of restored boxes, but the others are simply old friends which may be better maintained than I am!
