If you mean someone who can transcribe it from a recording i.e.sound file, Steve_freereeder is your man. A very clever chap but often quite busy so you shouldn't be in any kind of a hurry ...

Someone transcribing it straight from a recording is still the best option. Stick it on Youtube and ask Steve nicely. I'm sure there are others here who can do the same thing, I'm just not aware of them. If you do the Youtube and PM me the notes you are playing I may be able to ABC it ... in the fullness of time, by trial and error ...  :|bl

Put it on Youtube, send me the link and I'll transcribe with pen and paper (as long as it's not in  Eb minor....) :-)

I hope you have a scanner to copy the pen and paper! From what I've heard it's in C# minor so it will be easy.  ::)

Surely the B part is not right, there are three quavers too many. This also seems to be notated in 12/8 but you're playing in 6/8 on the video. I'm trying to transcribe this to abc for you but struggling ...

O.K., I watched the video a few times and I think this is about right. You'll have to fill in the C: field yourself as I don't know your name!

I think it's a really good effort if you are new to writing tunes, it's musically correct and quite a pleasing melody in my opinion.  (:)

As a first tune I think I would pretty much leave it alone, don't listen to me though because I'm not too good at composition myself. All (or at least the vast majority of) beginners tend to write fairly obvious tunes to begin with and gradually become more adventurous as they gain experience. Besides, you wrote this for your son so it already has sentimental value for you.

If you'd like it to be different it's time to write a new tune. One suggestion I would make is to listen to a few tunes that you like in the same time signature you are going to use - jig in this case - and listen to the way other tune writers vary both rhythm and pitch to add variety and sometimes a quirky twist to a tune. Right now though you just need to get a few tunes under your belt.

Pete.

Ah, I see Lester has posted while I was writing this, adding a few bits of variety! I think the g3 at the end is best left until last time around.

EDIT: Typo!
