Already had "quavers" in my "Bringlish" dictionary.

Steve, you should also know that 'Quavers' are a brand of snack here, very similar to the 'prawn crackers' we get in Chinese restaurants in the UK. They're sold in small packets like crisps or 'potato chips' as they are called in the U.S.  ;)

Complete run-down of musical notes here...

Semi-breve - whole note (Yes! bizarrely a 'Breve' is two whole bars in 4/4!)
Minim - half note
Crotchet - quarter note
Quaver - eighth note
Semi-quaver - sixteenth note
Demi - semiquaver - thirtysecond note
Hemi -demisemiquaver - a sixtyfourth note

There may be smaller notes - I neither know nor care, as the last two on that list are too mind bogglingly tiny for me to comprehend.  :|glug

Thanks Pete.  Good to know there is a homonym there.

Still my favorite, when wanting to impress with Brit fluency: "that song sounds like "a dogs breakfast".

Cue joke:

Fiddle player didn't believe that melodeon player could manage to play hemi-demisemiquavers.   So to prove he could the melodeon player played one! ;D
