The best way I've come across to get rid of button noise is to point the microphone away from the box and at a flat surface nearby to catch the reflection.  In studios I've done this by pointing it at the triple/quad glazed window between the live room and mixing room and in more 'homely' settings, by using a flat screen tv!

Dang. That's clever. Thanks for the tip!

If it is of any interest, in the 'home studio' corner.
I have made three albums personally, for private distribution, and been part of two 'various artist' commercial albums.

All parts made in my home studio where done as can be found on this page:

All of these albums can be accessed from my home page, also.

Definitely of interest! This thread is the first place I've heard of Reaper, and your page is wonderfully detailed about how you've used it. Very handy indeed. I'll definitely download it and have a try myself on a few test recording files I've got.

Cheers,

Clive

I've used Reaper and it is good.  The only thing to remember is that all these programs have a very steep learning curve and don't get discouraged if the first recordings take longer or are more complicated than you thought.  It gets easier very quickly and then you can start to have fun.  (:)

I got to say here that Reaper is, IMHO, one of the easier ones to learn.  :-[ I'm a bit of an old technically challenged sort myself ... and I came from the dreaded Cubase to Reaper and everything just slipped into place. Been using it now for about six years, so if you need any help please don't hesitate to PM me.
They also have a superb user forum.
