Chord charts for GC, GC# or GCF?
« on: October 10, 2009, 04:14:43 PM »

Does anyone have (or can send reference to) a "chord book" for GC, GC# or GCF similar to the excellent one posted by Bailey/Bottoms for DG?
Thanks, regards, Steve

While these probably exist you could transpose Lesters. It's actually best for a player to work out the chords himself and make his own book - then you are half way to learning them. In my earlier days I made a spreadsheet that will work out components any chord on any layout (sometimes they aren't all there). Could dust it off and put on my webspace if there is demand. But I'd still recommend finding them (ideally privately) with your fingers.

http://sniff.numachi.com/~rickheit/pm/chord/modal is a useful resource for listing chords that fit any given scale, it sadly only outputs in guitar LH format. AFAIR the original modalmatic.com was better

I'm intrigued by references to GC# layouts - there's a few on the current GCF thread.   I've actually got these rows on my C#DG (sort of) and Blues tune lines in particular have a very strong tendency to want to play across these inner and outer rows on my kit.  It's perhaps another example of 'instability' as a plus point in an instrument  - the two scales are diametrically opposite on the 'chord wheel' so as unrelated or "out" as one can get.

Has anyone experience of this system for "normal" music? On my box scales like Eb and F want to play there - but is that useful?

GC# layout

I'm intrigued by the idea of G/C# as a layout too.
Assuming that the G-row is the outer row, and that it is a third button start, does the inner row have 3rd button start on C# or G#?

Chris and Steve. I don't think this is about a two row G/C# layout. It's a 3 row G/C/# like the Benny I have for sale.

G/C# is just plain silly.  (:)

That makes much more sense!

Well yes, that was my first thought too, but then thinking about it a little more, if the C# row was shifted down by two buttons, so that the third button became the G# push A# pull, it starts to make a little more sense.

In my post on G/C/F's I was referring to 3 row G/C/# as Rees suggested. I was just being lazy and omitting the slashes, sorry for the confusion chaps! Bob.
