OK, Can anyone identify this tune?
« on: May 07, 2011, 12:55:28 AM »

Here we go chaps - here's a fragment of a tune I've known since school (a *very* long time ago), and I've no idea what it is. It's just a fragment - there's plenty more of this tune I think, but I don't know what that is either!

Please put me out of my misery (again!)

Cheers,

Clive

Very good!  ;D That's *close* (the first half of what I play is absolutely the same), but I don't know where the 2nd half of what I play comes from - it's not the same really. Thanks for the tip though!

Any other thoughts out there?

Cheers,

Clive

Sir, I have done you an injustice! A quick google or two, and the following ABC comes up:

Code: [Select]
X: 26
T:Chestnut (Dove's Figary)
M:4/4
L:1/8
K:C
A2 e2 d2 c2 | B3 A ^G2 E2| A2 B2 c2 c2|d2 cd e4|A2 e2 d2 c2|B3 A ^G2 E2| A2 B2 c2 c2|d2 cd e4:|
|: e2 ef g2 fe| d2 de f2 ed| e2 e2 e2 dc d3 f c4| e2 fe fedc |d2 ed ed B2| c2 A2 A2 d2| B3 c A4:|

... which is pretty much an exact match (the B music anyway) to what I remember! So, thanks for the help - melodeon.net does it again!

Rather than start a new thread I'm posting a tune fragment here that's driving me up the wall. Folk Tune Finder has no suggestions and Tunepal identified (59%) the first two bars as The Star of the County Down (!) and all four bars (76%) as a pipe tune called Contemporary Revolution. I'm hoping someone here will be able to spot the tune. I may have put two bits of the tune together that don't belong and probably have the wrong key but I'm sure you'll get the idea.

It's a bit like part of Nancy Taylor - is that the one you meant?
