Recorded just before dinner. Played while a family session. Noone seems to be happy because everyone is hungry, but nevertheless I did my this month tune. And I promise the children wanted to record this tune. :||:

Yann-Fanch says:

I like very much the story of this tune been taught some years ago at a workshop and then played by Corinne and Denis at a fest-noz, then picked up by one of you guys on youtube... and since living it's own life!

I like the different versions I found on youtube after it was nominated "tune of the month", especially the one by Clive Williams, even if not very suitable for dancing :-) But nice chords and atmosphere!

So I send you my own versions of the tune (score / tab) and also a quick recording (sorry, bad sound - no time to do better) as a truly "tour".
As I deleted quite a lot of notes of the original tune, added some 'syncopes' and also kind of jazzy chords, I feel quite like I was the composer of this "Inna Inna"! ;)

Cheers to the all of you happy squeezeboxers,

Yann-Fanch

The attachments won't attach as the sound is 880kb in wma and the score is a gif so you may have to wait until I have the political will to sort em out or perhaps Clive can sort them and I can email them to him.

Try these links for the files from Yann Fanch:

Music score

and

Sound file (which is just lovely by the way!)

Clive

PS: A quick play through later, and I think the score's set for a G/C, whereas the sound file is played on an A/D - if you're struggling to play along, that's why!  :D

The melodeon tab: the P line means push, the T line means pull. The number is a button number assuming 3rd position start, and with a little quote above it means inside row, without outside row.

That's intereesting, do you know the software that has been used to produce this combination of score and button reference?

I'd guess Tabledit (http://tabledit.com/)
You can have this type of tab (CADB version) or the other one that P&N use in their books - whichever you choose, for the bargain price of €50 (I think)
There's a free demo version but I think you can't load the melodeon ("accordeon") module, at least on a Mac, or I am very stupid or both

Some lovely performances, but I'm afraid the tune still does nothing for me.  Wouldn't do if we all liked the same things, though, would it?  ;D

Here's my attempt at this, complete with a seamless edit where I totally cocked up the end, played the last bit again and stitched it together, but also copious fluffed notes elsewehere... I assure it is possible to play this tune on the basses, just not when the camera is on  :Ph

The bass was terrific. I had no idea it was even possible. Thanks for this example.

Music score

In the score, is the rhythm of the B part's first measure slightly off? I ask because I can't get the beats in that measure to add up to 4/4. Should the fifth note in that measure (an A) be a sixteenth rather than an eighth note? If not can someone elaborate on how the measure should be interpreted rhythmically?

When I listen to the recording it makes sense, but using a metronome and trying to count out that first measure in the B part has me stumped.

There's obviously a note missing. Try making the second half of that bar the same as the first half.

Actually, that bar's a bit ambiguous:  if you look carefully, you'll see that the lower beam on note 6 (the "c" semiquaver) doesn't quite reach the stem of note 7.  I guess Anahata may well be right - it's probably an inaccuracy in the setting, there's a note missing and the two halves of the bar are the same; but if you read note 7 as a quaver rather than a semiquaver, then you do get a bar of 4/4, albeit interestingly syncopated and a little unconventionally notated. Perhaps I'd better listen to what the man actually plays! :D

Much appreciated slow version Frederick for us less nimbled-fingered. ;)

Anahata -- yr faster one would have em dancing down la rue, and, even more important, such immaculate visual fingering video recording for the viewer -- a model example to be copied for all youtubes.  (:).

Ah, I read that as a misprint rather than as an intended 16th note. Calling it a 16th does solve the problem of the beats. I still can't figure out how to play that rhythm against a metronome but perhaps it will come. My old standby of counting "One And A" or as they say around here, "Da, chick, dum", isn't up to it.

There's obviously a note missing. Try making the second half of that bar the same as the first half.

Good advice. I'll do that and work on the as written version to be a variation, perhaps against a reggae beat?
