Folkwaves - Folk Music programme podcast

FOLKWAVES

After a 12 month absence from the BBC Radio Derby schedules we are delighted to announce that the popular folk music show which covered the East Midlands is back. (soon)

In September, we were approached by the original presenter of the show (Mick Peat), and he asked if there was any way we could host Folkwaves on UK Folk Music. We decided that we could, but the whole website would need to be re-designed to have a more 'professional' look.

After three months, we launched the new look website on the 17th November to coincide with the Folk Festival Organisers conference in Eastwood, Nottingham. Since then, we have been active in setting up podcasting and a blog page where people can find out about the show and interact and leave comments and messages.

Mick Peat has managed to secure the involvement of his co-presenter - Lester Simpson and also John Tams who will record and produce the programme. We have some final arrangements to be made, but we are aiming to launch the first Folkwaves podcast in January 2012.

For more information please go to the dedicated web page here : http://www.ukfolkmusic.co.uk/folkwaves.php

We have  links to a 'trial podcast' which we have there purely for testing purposes, plus links through to the Folkwaves blog pages.

In the meantime since November 7th, the main website has rocketed up the Google Rankings and is currently in 8th position if you use the generic search term 'folk music' . We are poised to leapfrog folk music websites that have been established for some years.

Cheers all

Alan

Sorry to say - we didn't get enough people listening the show, so we folded it in December 2012.

There are still eight shows of quality music to listen too and you can get to listen

The eight web versions of the Folkwaves show are still available and we have moved them to our new website UK Folk Music-Radio

http://ukfolkmusic-radio.co.uk

We also have some of our own shows on there - all music and no chat. The website also work well on mobiles and tablets.
