Hi folks, Renee de la Prade here; the punky chick in the original video link.
Here's a quick update for all the folks interested in the video...

My current band is Whiskey and Women. Our website is here:
http://whiskeyandwomenmusic.com/

We play mostly Cajun and Americana tunes and Rock and Blues. We throw in a bit of everything; as long as it rocks.

I'm also the editor of the Accordion Babes Album & Pin-up Calendar. If you're curious here is our site:
http://www.accordionpinupcalendar.com/ I hope you contact me soon via the site, since we are looking for sponsors for the 2014 edition.

I'm doing a lot more touring in Europe these days; so send me a message if you'd like to have me come play a gig near you.

I still play Irish music but honestly I'm more of an all-arounder. My favorite obsession is dance rhythms in all genres. My dream is to one day own a diatonic accordion which can play in all keys with a special expanded bass system that can reproduce bass lines in many styles.
Logged
I play in D/D# using several custom bi-directional bass systems, used mostly for power-chords and moving bass lines rather than traditional oom-pahs. My life quest is to fuse folk music with rock n roll and somehow earn a living doing it.

Well, you've made me late this morning listening to youtube videos of your current band. Super stuff, a great sound and all that ... but I've *really* got to go out now   :-\

Good luck with that. If you wander around melnet for a bit you'll find lots of us looking for that holy grail, and some clever ideas and inventions that may be heading that way.

Love the new video on your web site; I was grinning all the way though  ;D

...and welcome to melnet. I hope you're staying!

Bienvenue,

Hope you can fit in a visit to Glasgow when you're next on a Europe tour. Lomond Folk Festival end of July? Not a very big event, though. Celtic Connections Festival - January? Bit chilly around here that time of year - I could understand if you'd prefer to stick with sunny France.

Kind of a younger Magnolia Sisters, sort of? The Magnolia Sisters performing Cajun favorite "Mag Hop"

Hello. Are you coming to Ireland? Please tell me you are coming to the west coast of Ireland.

I'll see you there if they do.  :|glug

I think the world needs more sexy accordion pictures; because the accordion is just as sexy as all the other instruments and doesn't deserve its current uncool reputation. I put my money/ and time where my mouth is with that sentiment; I've been producing the Accordion Babes Album & Pin-Up Calendar for the past 5 years.

Loving your work squeezeboxgoddess ... I also get through bellows faster than anyone else and I don't care!

I would take issue though - the squeezebox is not just as sexy as all the other instruments ... it's miles more sexy than any of them!

And I think I've got one of them!  It's a dream well worth pursuing IMO

Renee
It's plain for all to see, you have a lovely box
and the big breaths needed to sing and play and stomp in your energetic manner,
it seems however, you have all the males a flutter,
the guys on here are a real mixed bunch and we have girls too
so welcome, have you met Derek the Nutter?

All the Best mory

Ace calendar- maybe we should do a melnet one, with Theo, Clive, Nick, Squeezy, Chris, Ollie, Mory, Lester, Graham, etc etc  in various semi dressed poses?

On second thoughts.......

I can forgive that remark, but it could be quite hurtful to the younger ones, like Lester.  ;D ;D

Yeah, brilliant stuff. (Dunno why the other recent thread about her got locked unless she complained about it herself, rather heavy-handed moderation around here at times, but still, I guess there are plenty of others.)

Do you really think the moderation is heavy handed on this board? I'm surprised, nay flabbergasted to be honest. Most of the time this is a very good natured forum and the members are pretty self regulatory but occasionally we wander from the straight and narrow and we are given a quite reluctant nudge and a bit of a tut to keep us in order. Hardly heavy handed!

I doubt very much that Renee de la Prade complained about the content of any thread, as has already been pointed out there's no such thing as bad publicity. ;)
