Arthur and his rubber chicken
« on: December 15, 2011, 04:41:12 PM »

Moved to where?  Or do you mean removed?  In which case, I object, m'lud.  We want Arthur back because he's cute.

Sorry, removed because its completely unrelated to melodeons.

Sorry but that is the way this forum operates.

Perhaps I might suggest that if a thread is moved, a link is provided so that those who are keen to see Arthur and his Rubber Chicken don't have to cope with the vagaries of the forum search box to find him.  And his Rubber Chicken.

Would a rubber chicken count as Other Instruments?   ;D

If a thread is moved we do always provide a link to its new place.
In this case the thread has been removed.  It is a dead thread, it is deceased, not living it is an ex-thread/parrot/rubber chicken.

Just a moment I'll check with the MU... ... ... ... ... apparently not.

Anyone have access to the Grove Dictionary of Music able to look it up?

One member of our side regulalry turned up with his rubber chicken and there might have developed a discussion on the best way to hold said chicken and throw it whilst playing the melodeon...  Believe me, it's not as easy as it looks.

Not wanting to promote Arthur and all that, don't know what the original post was as I didn't see it....but, if it's the one I'm thinking of then there's some nice box playing on the soundtrack by Squeezy on Bellowheads 'Little Sally Racket'   ::)

So how can Arthur and his rubber chicken be deemed to be unrelated to melodeons?

The Punk sound track on this version might  offer a clue. However by happy coincidence the Chetwynd Improvisation Coursette  [CIC] runs this weekend and one module in the curriculum is to 'accompany' said video in 'silent' mode with the sweet tones of a hand held melodeon.  Yes, I know it should be a mighty Wurlitzer, but one has to make certain  compromises in life.  :|glug

I don't think we should dismiss Arthur so lightly, I'm sure many a proficient rubber chicken player have gone on to be excellent melodeon players!

Do you mean you played while astride the dog, or that you encouraged it to make musical noises?

I LOVE this video, it is perfect - the tune, the bowler, the rooster, absolutely perfect. But no rubber chicken  (:)

When one of the dogs was put down recently we discussed whether we wanted to bury her or have her cremated....if only I'd seen that video sooner....
