It's a while since I recorded anything for Tune Of The Month...here's my Bear Dance.

It's a very imaginative rendition ... I almost imagine a movie all around with beautiful ladies in medieval dresses and valiant knights !

Isn't it great to that TOTM is going even more international now! Much appreciation to Soldo and astriddiato for promoting the addiction  in France.    Really enjoyed seeing the views over the French countryside in the background.   I had  thought that  it was being French that was helping you to make this tune sound so convincing.... and now Astrid tells us that the tune's  from Lanarkshire ..... and Clive said it was Flemish.  Who knows? I am starting to like it a bit anyway.

I must admit that I thought of the film 'A Knight's Tale' and also a lumbering bear when I started to record it

Hello everybody,

Pleased to be accepted on melodeon.net it is the first time and I am not sure how to do it.

I am Astrid from France.. I am a begginner having practised playing melodeon a few couples of years but I am remaining a beginner.

Here is my contribution to the tune of the month.

http://youtu.be/JkZgRhP9bLU

Hope it is ok although, short and cut off..

Rgds ::)

Hello it is me  again I have another one.

This is the Bear dance in the way we are playing it in our groupe. I am holding the camera that's why I am not playing but you can see my friend Guy playing on a Castagnari G/C. The leader of the groupe is Suzy, you can recognise her easily. She's English and  is  playing all sort of instruments.. We are singing it in the language of occitan and should you want the texte I can forward it.

Welcome Astrid! Your name is familiar from your other YouTube videos I've seen.

You can join in the "Tune of the month" thread by going to the end and posting your message as a reply - you don't have to start a new thread, but it's good to see you here anyway!

Diatosoldo - love your 'B' part, I've not heard that version before but must try it  (:)
would you like a sheet for it ? I've got one.

Diatosoldo - thank you for your kind offer, although I'm afraid to say that my ability to read any kind of music is even worse than my attempts at your fine language! I have however been improving my french recently following a visit from from 3 year old french neice  (:)

I'll have to see how I get on by ear, I've only had a quick go so far  :-\

I love listening to other people's contributions for TOTM - over the last year I've learnt a great deal from watching them, including technique - and it's really opened my ears to tunes that I probably wouldn't have come across.

New Year's Boxolution was to be brave and post a recording on TOTM.

Well, ok.  Here's my version.  Without many of the things I had hoped to experiment with as I seem to be incapable of playing infront of a video without making LOTS of mistakes  :|bl  So it's a very standard version without much variation.

Anyway, I've tried to focus on making things as precise as I can, although that goes to pot in a couple of places, and not speeding up, which I've also done a bit.  But this was the best version and it's a start  ;D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-2G9ch4iPo&context=C3e417cbADOEgsToPDskI9fO0rpEBvf46usGCCqwlb

I'm also working on a waltz version inspired by some of the other variations that have appeared this month.

There's been some discussion on this forum regarding inferior 'English' versions of this tune. Congratulations on a great version Diatosoldo - I propose that this should now become the standard & will start promoting it in sessions as soon as I get the hang of it.
