That must have been made in the Hering plant, which was purchased and later sold by Hohner. After Hohner moved in, the facility produced accordions in addition to harmonicas and other things. You can still buy a Hering harmonica and they're good quality. Can't vouch for the "Hohner" accordion shown in the auction, though. I'm skeptical of its quality compared to German instruments from the same period because it looks quite a bit like one of those Klingenthal doozies with the famous bunk springs and slow response time. Hardly rare and hardly worth $999 but that should go without saying.  (:)

From the Harmonica Shop website:
http://www.harmonicashop.eu/?pg=rolunk&nyelv=eng

"After the death of Mr. Hering, the company was sold in the middle 60's to the M. Hohner Company, of  Trossingen, Germany. At that time, Hering was also manufacturing accordions and a variety of musical toys. In 1979,  a Brazilian group bought the Hering Company and Hohner left Brazil."

Here is a photo, for posterity because the fleabay page will eventually expire. FWIW it does say "Made in Brazil" on the bass panel.

edit: Some problem with the link, so I'll just upload a photo.  :||: :||:
