I enjoyed the flow chart but it needs a bit of tweaking for straight women. If I don't actually want to get some girls or be a professional musician (which I don't), it looks like I'm restricted to drums or bassoon. Then again, even men have to want to be professional before they're on the path to melodeon, which scarcely corresponds to the folk world I know.

Maybe we need to  create a Melnet version of this, with more folk instruments and an option of several types of melodeon? It could also included alternatives such as piano accordion, recorder, bodhran, concertina, pipes, spoons, etc, to which people not worthy of the melodeon could be directed.

Hmmm - tread very carefully...

I might be stating the obvious here but I think the chart was intended to be a joke!

I think I had managed to work out that it was a joke - I wasn't looking on it as a serious guide to lifestyle choices. It would just be a better joke if it was applicable to women as well as men, and could be funnier that way. That's all I meant.

Daughter no1 wants to do Obs & Gyn (aka lady bits doctor), so I'm completely confused on both charts.

This thread is beginning to divert towards I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue - late arrivals at the medical school music club!
