So so fluff through of a few strung together tunes done on the hoof
while my cat was busy sinking its teeth into my foot

http://youtu.be/2trtSwKvgmU

Might get round to stringing a few more together later in the week ?

With the lostness in das Man, the nearest, factical potentiality-ofbeing of Da-sein has always already been decided upon – tasks, rules, standards, the urgency and scope of being-in-the-world, concerned and taking care of things. Das-Man has always already taken the apprehension of these possibilities-of-being away from Dasein.

Are you left handed? Only other person I met who played like that was Rockin' Dopsie.

After 6 months of enforced rest from playing the melodeon due to a persistent sore forearm, I decided to see how things were progressing today, and ended up recording these three schottisches - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4TJVEQ8SuE - for ThOTM (and to no serious effect on the arm, but I will give it a good rest now again). The tunes are Love Will You Marry Me (which I first heard as an Irish song), Click Go The Shears (which I first heard as a song called Strike the Bell), and Allies Reel which I have only ever heard played as a schottische. Sorry about the unprofessional editing click going into the third tune, but, hey, it has been six months!

Excellent stuff. That box sounds fantastic. Love the first tune in particular; one I learnt from Nic Jones.

I went to a session earlier this week and this tune was discussed.  It is a new 'French' style Scottische called Halsway Scottische written by Nigel Eaton.
I have quickly learned it so it's a little rough around the edges but I thought it was appropriate for this month's theme:-

Given my life situation (five kids, demanding job, grad school) I've decided to celebrate the forgiving and celebratory nature of this board.  I've not posted for a few months because of rough around the edges.  Last night, I made myself do it, and it felt great.

This is a tune written by Horst Grimm. He is a bagpipe maker from the district in the North of Bavaria, that is called "Franken". I learned by Achim Eberle, a very good backpipe player.

And here is a tune from my daughter. I really helped just a little because she was quite nervous.
And it is an honour to have the permission publishing it on Youtube!!!

Lovely steady playing! We'll be watching out for her on the festival stages in 10 years time!

Here's one that could  be a hornpipe, but I think it might qualify for a schottische. Since it's 2012, we now must consider whether or not the Mayans have it correctly that phenomena will discontinue at some point this year. With that in mind, I am offering a homemade version of Jeremiah McLane's lovely tune, Time Will End.. I am playing this on the green Pistelli box that has just come out of rehab with some sweetening and a bit of drying out.

Nice one Forrest. This is a lovely tune and it sounds great on that box.

p.s. I also like your version of Eleanor Plunkett  (:)

Bravo Lilly Charlotte! (and Bravo your  Dad!)  I'm looking forward to following your next 100 youtubes. Lovely rhythm and clarity. Good to hear  the Joreema genes moving forward into the future so beautifully.

...in which case, a contender for Tune of the Month sometime this year has to be Maxou Heintzen's beautiful waltz, Le Bout du Monde.

Another rendering of Nigel Eaton's Halsway Schottische...

http://youtu.be/uEiGvUNNZhQ

A few days ago Simon Haines sent me the music attached to an email saying he'd fallen in love with the tune and wanted to encourage as many people as possible to play it (I'm sure Roland was in on this too), so I took the challenge of learning it before the month was up and here it is. Another month of work and it might sound quite good...
