Mardi Gras

Capitaine, capitaine, voyage ton flag,

Sounds more fun than a couple of lousy pancakes!  :|glug

I'm a Yorkie!
My other melodeon's a fiddle, but one of my Hohners has six strings! I also play a very red Hawkins Bazaar in C and a generic Klingenthaler spoon bass in F.!! My other pets (played) are gobirons - Hohner Marine Band in C, Hohner Tremolo in D and a Chinese Thingy Tremolo in G.

We're working on Danse de Mardi Gras specially for the fiddlers. There will be a burst of box towards the end if I can nail it - a bit tricky and I might go back to one row - but the fiddles will have most of the spotlight. Looking forward to debuting this one. We should have it down by next Mardi Gras season.

We had a fish supper - it counted as fatty food for Fat Tuesday purposes. It was that or going in search of eggs to get some pancakes together.

I just came back from my hometown near Mamou, La for the Mardi Gras bash.  Every place should have a couple days to do things that would land you in jail any other time and place.

I love the Mardi Gras song, it is an ancient tune, to go with an ancient celebration, and has many different variations in Louisiana.  Even being an accordion player, I still think it's a fiddle tune.
