I don't think this has been posted before. Has melodeon in it & seems worthy enough.

Donated this morning.  (:) Ben and I are in the same Morris side (Fool's Gambit), so I hope to be there on the day to support him.

IanD: Please remember he's only on loan to you lot, so I hope you don't injure him in any way  >:E

Seriously, everyone down here's got fingers crossed, and wish him well. He's a good advert for the cause.
cheers

So is Ian going to provide music all along the way? He'd be a very dedicated museo if he did.  >:E

I've passed this report on to my side here in the States. Good luck Ben!

You've got to be joking  ;)

Playing for a 10k (we've done 3 now, and plan to make the "10k over 10 Bridges" an annual event) where pace doesn't really matter is one thing, playing live for a 40k is something entirely different -- and no matter how much we'd like to do it, it would only slow Ben down.

Also I don't think the LM rules allow an entrant to have accompanying musicians...

Won't 'off the beat' Bampton be difficult without a musician?

On second thoughts, if you haven't got a beat to be 'off' I suppose you can't be wrong!

I think Ben's going to use an MP3 player, maybe with a teeny pair of battery-powered speakers if he can find suitable ones.

I read that as "battery powered sneakers" and thought this must be some new dancers' footwear I hadn't come across before.

Was chatting to Ben last night at our monthly ceilidh.
He's going to try things out in two weekends time in the Hastings (?) Half Marathon to see if he can maintain the sidestepping throughout, and then adjust his training/style/stepping accordingly. Didn't ask about music though.
At the interval we embarrassed the lad by highlighting his event to the audience, and also asking anyone to give towards the charity he's supporting.
I think it's a huge effort to undertake and magnificent if he can achieve his aim.

Indeed.
Not so much a 'Nine dayes wonder' as a 4-5 hour relative dash!

We're planning to run a team sweepstakes (like people do for the Grand National) where people buy randomly selected timeslots in the 4-8 hour region, with some of the money raised going to the owner of the winning timeslot (if there is a winner!) and the rest (or all of it!) to Ben.

This should at least make following the race (or at least the end of it!) more exciting  ;D

Any other team(s) fancy doing the same? *Every* one a winner...

Ian

P.S. Or you could just sponsor him -- but the possibility of winning something often encourages more people to cough up more money  ;)
