Yep, I strongly suspect it's cookie related, caused if a cookie doesn't exist and can't be created. The only way I've managed to recreate it though is by explicitly banning a cookie from the site from being stored in my browser. I haven't managed to do it by simply starting out with no cookie, then going to the site, which I suspect is how you guys are getting the error. Once the cookie's created, I think you're fine. I'm pretty sure the live site behaves in exactly the same way though.

Cheers,

Clive

Working fine on my Android phone, including a test posting.

Why move to SMF2? Well, to be honest it's just to keep 'up with the times', so to speak. SMF1 hasn't been actively developed in some time, and only security bugs tend to get fixed. There's some new site moderation stuff (which I doubt we'll use),

It is possible that the moderation tools might make it possible to open up new user registration.  That would be a big help to me, and would make life easier for new members too.

Since Picasa albums have been swallowed by Google+ I, for one, would not be a all surprised if old Picasa links no longer work  ;)

Hmmm. Is it behaving differently to how the main site behaves?

Works great on Lynx!  :D
The xhtml validation link at the bottom reports two minor errors though. The full w3c validator reports 65 errors, but that's pretty normal. Even testing the google homepage gives a pretty large error report. Also a single css error according to the css validator. Nothing serious I think.

Jolly good; providing no other problems pop up, I'll try an upgrade in the week after easter. More details nearer the time!

Cheers,

Clive

I'll probably take a shot at this sometime in the next couple of days; odd behaviour (of the site) while I'm doing it is most likely. I'm planning to do it in place rather than creating a site copy since experience has shown that creating a copy site is actually very dangerous. Wish me luck!

We are missing the top left hand image and can no longer access the main site only the forum, but all else seems OK

Yep, because I've switched the theme to default before I uninstalled anything (been caught that way before!). Having trouble uploading the SMF 2.0.2 update script. This may take a while...

OK, That's SMF2 up. We're currently on the default 'curve' theme; I'll change that in a bit. In the meantime, let's see if I can get SimplePortal 2.3.4 up...

Exciting isn't it?

And that's SimplePortal up. That was easy... too easy. Now the hard bit; customising the theme into something sensible.

Looking good Clive and thanks for all the hard work. As you can guess this is working up to whine, can you increase the font size of the text in Quote boxes which seems to be reduced in this version. Not an urgent thing though  :o

Yep, still tuning the config files... haven't managed to get the customised style files in yet.
