D/G Club keyboard layout shown on melnet
« on: March 27, 2012, 12:06:36 AM »

The keyboard layout for a 30 button D/G Club Model shown on the website seems to me to have an incorrect bass description.
If the bass layout followed the C/F Club pattern, then the bass/chord labelled as "Bb" should actually read as "F". Or is the Bb chord someone's personal preference? Perhaps I'm the only person who's strayed into this esoteric corner of melodeon.net for a while...

I posted exactly the same query back in January (http://forum.melodeon.net/index.php/topic,8582.0.html) but it evidently went un-noticed.

The following is all based on assumptions...

I don't know of any manufacturer who produced a D/G Club, so when you come across one it will have been converted from a C/F or Bb/Eb.  Most people use this conversion as a way of getting a 2 1/2 row Hohner, so elect to de-club both the treble and bass ends.  The point is that the conversion is non-standard, so any layout is just a reflection of what was chosen by the end-user, not a standard manufacturer's layout.

Theo rebuilt a previously wrecked C/F Preciosa for me and converted it to de-clubbed D/G and i elected to have the standard 8 button bass.  I would have loved to go to a 12 bass, but I've never seen a Regina with the same case style and colour.

I've seen Reginas with the same case, but not the same colour. But hypothetically they do exist, so keep your eyes open!

Quite correct.  Would the person who posted the original like to make an edited version?

New layout created

https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1m2E1sOB1lAt2trwVjVAl7SSZNdsGYWpd6DLyUphDm0M/edit

As an improvement on the old style layout I have included the octave number (correct name??) for each button. But as I have never met a D/G club can some one check my guesses please? Once it has been proof read I will generate  PDF and send it to Clive to stick on the site.

Nicely clubbed on the left hand - however, you've forgotten the gleichton. :P

Clive has plenty on with TOTM and SMF2, send me the pdf and I'll put it up.

Are the octave numbers correct?

I suspect the G#s and Bbs are all an octave too high,
