Very like the "organetto" I once owned. It had 4 basses, C and G,  G and D. It had one+(4) rows - in G .. and G.
The (4) button row was reversed as Mike describes. And it was incredibly fast .. as long as you played in G  ::)

That  'beyond wet' reed setup is also ... reminiscent.  :|glug

Don't know if this is Italian or not, but I thought I'd post it anyway. I've had this one for years, so it might not be exactly as I first heard it. This is my version of Oscar Woods' Italian Waltz (played on the D one row).

Here's my suitably late night entry for an italian tune; a simple, yet very elegant little waltz called Le Stesse Coso Ritornano written by Maurizio Martinotti of Italian folk band, La Ciapa Rusa in the early 90's I think. It plays beautifully on a 2 row, in this case my 1920's G/C Hohner, and I usually play it in the lower register, though with a bit of thought it would probably play in the upper register too.

Ok, not actually an Italian tune at all, but it's called Spaghetti Panic... points for thinking outside the box?  ::)

Wow! Well played Ollie!  :|glug

If anyone wants the dots for this, it's p.38 in Alexandra Browne's (Valkyrie of this parish) fabulous book 'Diatonic Liaisons', discussed at great length here:

http://youtu.be/ysM-8t2hpIM  Recycling Ciapa Rusa tunes from the Mazurkas ThOTM.  I think my Italian box likes playing tunes from its homeland. For some reason I've got used to playing 9 bars instead of 8  in the B section of the second one. I've only two discs from Ciapa Rusa, but they play several tunes per track, so many lovely melodious  ideas. Thanks to Clive for posting your beautiful Ciapa waltz... another one to learn.
Ciao !

Another from Ciapa Rusa....originally.  Do you know the name, or the type of dance?   http://youtu.be/yxSNEwUS_-I
Still a few more Italian days left in the month  8)

Another sloppy episode in my contribution to the world of diatonic accordions, showing that I need to calm down and do some nice slow practice.  Here it is anyway, "adapted" from the recording of "Mazurka dell'organetto" by Nicola Melideo.

This also covers "Theme of the Month: Mazurkas".

Thanks to everyone who posted something on this thread, I've enjoyed listening. I'm only sorry that my playing level is not advanced enough yet to have contributed this month (plus I don't have the microphone issue sorted yet).

Another step in the right direction. Don't be so hard on yourself. I know what your struggling with.

Let's get it on before the month ends.  Polca Lucana, gradually running into trouble.

Well done! Not a tune I heard before, but it sounds well played to me. :D Just under the deadline too!

Three late postings, all played on Giustozzi 1.5 row (D)

Notes

Polca dell'organetto learned from Giuliano Cameli Metodo Per Organeto Diatonico.
Salterello dell'organetto I wrote this one yesterday.
Santa Lucia When I signed up for Italian langauge classes at Bolton Royd (Bradford) the teacher had me play this while the rest of the class sang.

Fab playing, Mike - you're clearly in the top echelon of Melnet in your capabilities. Just a personal foible - I love to see submissions on YouTube as I like to look at something whilst I'm listening otherwise I start doing something else on the computer at the same time and my attention wanders. Nevertheless, eccellente or whatever excellent is in Italian! I'd give you a thumbs up emoticon if we had one!

Season's greetings everybody and here's a random posting that doesn't fit into any other theme.  I made a nice relaxed recording this morning in some form of file that is not compatible with the new harder to use version of Soundcloud, so here is a worse version.  Not sure of the type of tune (polka? schottische? - there are some schottisches from Puglia) but it's wedding-related, it's Calabrian and it's from the recording by Gaspare Scola.  Viva gli Sposi.

Funiculi Funicula in C

Better late than never I suppose!  This is a memory from my childhood of Dad singing in a "cod" Italian, operatic voice.
Apparently this was written to commemorate the installation of a funicular railway on Mount Vesuvius, nr. Naples, Italy.

I had great fun figuring this out and playing it on my GC Erica.  I think the original was in F - this is in C.

I had to make a few compromises - one of which was having to use the A minor chord instead of a needed B7 which gives a very interesting Am6 when added to the melody note.  It's great to see what you can squeeze out of these instruments! No pun intended!

UPDATE! Here is the version in G on my DG Erica :-
