Anatomy of a melodeon: line drawing
« on: April 09, 2012, 02:03:57 PM »

Can anyone direct me to a line drawing or some other type of image that identifies all the parts of a melodeon, inside and out?

US customs once took apart an accordion I purchased from a seller in Italy. The x-ray wasn't satisfactory. They opened the case, removed its bubble padding, removed the bellows pins, and took out the reed blocks to have a look around. Then I was required to verify over the telephone that, yes, the package contained an accordion. All quite mysterious, and taking an extra week to have the thing returned to FedEx and delivered to me.

Back on topic, though, didn't Ed (telemorris) post a line drawing of his mini melodeon self-build?

I posted the line drawings for the Preciosa that I'm repairing. You can find the thread here. The drawings are not labeled but they do give you an idea of the insides of an unusual instrument.

Haven't done drawings of the mini. It's getting close to finished though. Bellows are in process right now.

That's it -- very nice drawings, too. I must have muddled the Liliput and the self-build in my head. I also found the following drawing on the website of Smythe's Accordion Center. Not sure where he got it from, but perhaps Mr. Smythe will spot the thread and tell us.

Comrades ..

"Largely for fun" I've labelled the
Xray and hope I've not missed
anything too important. It is a
Gaillard Sapphir "from the front"
showing its metal parts only
