Indeed. I'm off out now to see if I can track down any Morris activity round the City of London this lunchtime. Ironically, our side has done/will do 2 "St George's Day" gigs this year - one was on Saturday and the other's tomorrow.

Cyprus Morris ran a St George's Day dance on Saturday near Limassol and we were out today dancing at Kolossi Castle, Kolossi Olive Mill and St Ermogenis monastery on a lovely sunny afternoon with the blue Mediterranean just a couple of hundred yards away...........the group of tourists from Utrecht were very appreciative!

Ah, but isn't Utrecht famous for it's 'Ring' morris side? Did they have red socks?

It is - and they were mentioned (by us!).  As the temperature here yesterday was about 27 and they were on holiday, they didn't have any socks...... ;D

We were out last night in Odiham!  Four morris sides and a mummers play - but it was COLD>  Last year we were crossing the road between dances to get in the shade, this year we were dodging showers and drinking whisky macs.  Oh well, another season is upon us...

Went out on Sunday but rain stopped play - not so much us, but the instruments were getting wet so we had to stop ::) and go into the bar to dry out. Externally.

Went out last night with several local Brummie sides, quite pleasant, but as Rob said, COLD. Somebody kicked my beer over onto the gig bag, fortunately the box wasn't in it.

But a nearly full tankard :( at £3.35 a pint :(  :( - then I had to dry the gig bag  :(

Anyone I know?  I've lived in Cyprus 5 years or so, but I'm Brummie born & bred....

Well, the sides were Alvechurch,  Aelfgythe and Nancy Butterfly but I don't know any names  :( (except a bloke called Phil who was blacked up so I wouldn't recognise him again... I was with a new side called Brethren Morris - all border except Nancy Butterfly.

I am at the stage of standing 10ft behind Brethren's music and pretending that I can nearly keep up...

Cotswold I practice with 1st Sedgley (Jockey are on Fridays when I'm going home and Green Man clash with Sedgley). Don't take the box.

Right - I know some of Alvechurch; I used to know several Nancy Butterfly members but they probably don't dance with them any more (it was a while ago).  I certainly know some of 1st Sedgley and Green Man, and I've been a Jockey member since the mid-60s.

It was also about 27 degrees in York on Monday evening - unfortunately the said degrees were Fahrenheit. Still we had a good danceout and even attacted some punters!  :M  :|glug

My other melodeon's a fiddle, but one of my Hohners has six strings! I also play a very red Hawkins Bazaar in C and a generic Klingenthaler spoon bass in F.!! My other pets (played) are gobirons - Hohner Marine Band in C, Hohner Tremolo in D and a Chinese Thingy Tremolo in G.
