Have just come across this - sounds like a great idea! I expect I live somewhere in the 'competent' but not 'good' territory - acceptable?  ;D

I believe you do yourself down young lady, you are one of my favourite people to play with (Ooo Err Mrs   ;) )

Provisionally the Fleece near Evesham, 24th November.  Let me know if you can do that date.  If we get enough takers who don't mind donating a tenner or similar to help cover the hire cost then we are go!

This is sounding really good. I will be coming from Norfolk (assuming date is ok) so need to think about getting back in the dark....ie distance etcetc. If any one is near Kings Lynn and would like a lift I have a spare seat!

Will mention to a box-beginner friend of mine who lives in Watlington...  (:)

Hi Lyn - we spoke about a year ago and I've been somewhat negligent in getting my act together (work stuff has got in the way a bit, being made redundant and starting my own business etc etc).  I am the box beginner friend Ellie has mentioned - and I'd love to come to this day - happy to drive both of us if you want or to come with you and share fuel costs - up to you.

Hi LDT and others - put me down for a "yes" to this day.  I'm a very very rough beginner but I'm practising again (although I still have a real mental block/psychological issue with the breathing button).

Hi Ellie and Lorna,

sorry for not replying (have PMed Lorna) Ellie,am only making very quick dashes onto the froum as we are snowed under with Kiwis at the moment! I guessed - reading back, that Lorna was the friend of whom you spoke; I too have a friend in Watlington and visit most weeks.

Yes, soon to entering my 2nd year as a melodeon owner (notice I don't say player!) I get very frustrated that I can't just pick up tunes in session as I would on my fiddle - there are too many bass/chord options to guess even when the right hand is easy peasy. But I am forging ahead and now have a lesson whenever my young tutor is actually in the country. A bit hit and miss though he is very good.
Melodeon Playgroup sounds a brilliant idea; am more than happy to chip in with my tenner (or whatever) to help out with the rental.

Sounds like fun, and it's not far from Bristol. I'm in and willing to chip in!

OK, I'll get in touch with the venue and get it set in stone, find out if there are any side rooms, what times we can use the room etc.

I'm happy enough to pay the deposit myself as it's not too large; then we can just split the cost amongst who comes.  Depending on the capacity we may be able to just do it as a drop-in thing without a formal registration as such.

Okay, deposit is paid.  Melnet Playgroup at the Fleece, Bretforton on 24th November 2012.  Probably from about 10am to sometime in the afternoon, programme to be confirmed but I'm working away in August and will be silly busy so don't expect anything until September.  I think they've said we can have about 30 or so which I think will probably cover everyone that wants to come and then some.

Might nip by for a swift half and a tune or three - any old excuse to get back to the Fleece... :|glug :|glug :|glug

Hi Strigulino

I was chatting to the landlord Nigel Smith just now (as I know him), and he's keen to extend the event into the evening. He's also minded to organise some local morris for the next lunchtime.

There is a large garden area suitable for campervans (as you know Ed!) and tents, and Nigel has asked me to let everybody know they are welcome to stay overnight and drink lots and buy breakfast  >:E

Sounds like it'll be a great do - thanks for organising it   (:) :|glug

That makes it more interesting. I might look into bringing the camper, then.

Dammit, someone's already booked up the B&B there!

I shall be staying at the Premier Inn in Evesham and will be driving after the Playgroup/Evening Session as I'm teetotal it's not a problem, they currently have rooms at £39

Three places left if anyone else wants a lift

I have a largish tent with two 'bedrooms' and another inside area which I'm happy to bring - I shall be in Bertha the bus (campervan). Anyone interested re the tent, let me know

I'm writing down names as I go. Anyone who's said in one of the threads that they're thinking of coming. If I start nearing 30-odd I'll say. ;)
