The total weight of an(y) accordion  (chromatic or even more so: diatonic) doesn't give you all the information you need. It's how this weight is balanced between left and right, which is important! Personally I do not worry too much about the right hand side, while I (and surely most players) appreciate a light-weight bass - after all it's the part og the box which is constantly being moved.
And again, good reeds and good bellows have their say as well, as your left arm has to work less, without the bass-part turning into a heavy brick.

I'll be there with my stall, I expect the Music Room and Hobgoblin will be there too.

This is kind of an old post, but what is wrong with the Clovis (besides being too much like the Bouebe?)
I don't have the history that others have, but having had both 3 row and 3 voice boxes, including a Streb, I don't find the need for more than a 2-row, low scale with accidentals.
(current faves: CF with F scale layout and DG with G-scale, both dry-ish tuned Hohners)
Small, light, fettled, never run out of air and never worry about hurting them.
The Q: what is not to like about the Clovis (Brincu with TAM reeds in US)?

Steve, I do now own a Clovis thanks to Rees, and I am it finding easier to play.  I have tried various boxes: Nuage - too big and heavy, a Dino Baffetti/Oakwood prototype - nice size but a bit too loud and strident, a single voice Lilly - nice and small but I missed the 2-voices.  I really like the Clovis and prefer the Castagnari sound.  It is not too big or heavy and just right for my needs.

Wendy, thanks for your update (after several years!)
The Brincu is sort of new to the States and I am thinking of one. (Brincu + TAM reeds).
Admittedly, I do like the Castagnari drier sound sometimes (missing the Tommy 2-voice).
Thanks also for comment on the Dino, had thought about that one as well.
How do you like the bass end (on the Clovis)?
BTW, I too had a Lilly several years ago and it could peel paint. No problem being heard with that box!
