Cast a Bell - 1651 is on Spotify and is an interesting listen (features Andy Cutting).

For those not familiar, "The album is an interpretive tour de force, folk-style music from the Renaissance interpreted with modern classical, folk and jazz "influences." The musicianship is excellent, the triad pulling their diverse histories into the current edge of English folk"

I've mentioned it on another thread, but Moore Moss Rutter's album is on Spotify and well worth a listen.

Also, recently arrived in the last day or so is the new Bellowhead album, Broadside. I'm very impressed with it; I don't think there's a weak track on the album, although a lot of it isn't particularly melodeon heavy.

... and you can now also play "Spot Andy Cutting's Very Quiet Guest Spot" on the latest Show of Hands album...

I recommend Five Men in a Boat

Five Men in a Boat is an international folk quintet consisting of two Norwegians, two Frenchmen and a token Englishman - all established artists in their own right. They sing in four languages, including Occitan and play a wide range of instruments.

Gabriel Fliflet, accordionist and daredevil singer.
Frode Nyvold possesses one of the most characteristic voices in Norwegian folk.
Emmanuel Pariselle is a one-man folk institution.
Didier Oliver – singer, fiddler and bagpiper.
Richard Burgess – singer, guitarist and concertina-player

... a certain Vivant by Mark Prescott & Clive Williams has just joined spotify. Violin/melodeon duets in a gentle, unassuming sort of way...

... look what just turned up! The Yves Lambert Trio's debut album, Trio - taking the box/fiddle/guitar approach, and doing it very, very well. The box playing is, as you'd expect, cracking, and there's a strong Irish theme to the material, but with a wonderfully Quebecois twist.

For those without spotify, you can stream online/buy here:

http://lapruchelibre.bandcamp.com/album/trio-yves-lambert-olivier-rondeau-tommy-gauthier

.... oh, and there's 3 other Yves Lambert albums on that Bandcamp link, if you follow the 'more albums...' link.

Stuff wot I've found:

Trip to Harrogate - tunes from the Joshua Jackson MS
Lau - three albums worth!
Boozoo Chavis - great cajun
Joe Falcone - more cajun
Mardi Gras, Vintage Cajun Sons - speaks for its self!
Ed Rennie - Narrative
Bask - a really good Swedish band (no melodeon, but definitely worth a listen)
Joe Derrane - They have his latest album aged 70 and the 1991 re issue of his first album recorded when he was 17. A goodun.
Loads of Marin Simpson

and more, but a cup of tea is calling meee....

I've got Trip to Harrogate on Vinyl somewhere. I'm sure Chas Marshall played on it!

Whoa... The La Bottine Souriante back catalogue has just turned up... or most of it, anyway! As far as I can see - all the albums since and including 'Tout Comme Au Jour de L'An'. There is some *fantastic* stuff here...

Just found Cameristico featuring Riccardo Tesi. Nice bit of Italian Chamber-folk.

If anyone's feeling like some English melodeon stuff, the new faustus album (Broken Down Gentlemen) is on spotify, no tune sets unfortunately but still some cracking stuff on there!

Just noticed that (in the UK at least) 3 Naragonia discs have appeared; Tandem, Janneke Tarzan and Carabel... and just noticed too that the other two, Idili (the latest, just released) and Batiska are also available under Naragonia Quartet (not Naragonia).

A few more that's joined recently:

Liam Robinson Dance Band - Welcome Here Again
Polkaworks - Borrowed Shoes
The Melrose Quartet - 50 Verses
Haddo - Borderlands
Duo Tanghe-Coudroy - Oiseaux de Nuit

(and my own Vivant's second album Tree of Life is on there too, but it's under Vivant, not under Mark Prescott and Clive Williams like the original disc; confusing eh?)

De Temps Antan's latest 'Ce monde ici bas' has just joined. There's a few more guests on the album than on their previous, but I think they've kept the spirit of what they are (hot 3 piece Quebecois) and if anything, I'd say it's stronger than their previous albums.

Saul Rose's new album with James Delarre, "Cabin Fever", is now on spotify and it is absolutely wonderful; as is the Askew Sister's new album "In the Air or the Earth" which has also been put on.
